This and the connected area have so many chestnut trees. They’re either American or a hybrid. As such they don’t make it very far before the blight gets them but it’s very interesting to see this rare species. A few of them are at least 15 or 20 ft tall. I found this hike to be most enjoyable around September to the abundance of different plants and greenery making for a very pretty scene.
