This is one of if not my favorite parks to hike in. I have found this especially nice in August and early September for plant photography. There’s a lot of late summer plants in bloom. It’s also especially nice in the winter since it’s heavily evergreen forest.






This is also a good dark sky site at least relative to what I’ve found in central/NE CT. It made for good viewing of the recent Aurora at Bigelow pond.





The small loop trail is closed on the end near the road. It does not say that any part has been abandoned but it looks like Trail upkeep is much less on half of it than the other side.

Mashapaug looks very nice this time of year and The Rock Island section is neat.
